El Djem, Tunisia

EL DJEM, AL MAHDIYAH, TUNISIA – Visiting the ancient Roman amphitheater at El Djem on my first (and most likely my only) trip to Tunisia, in December of 2011. We waited for some good sunset shots then headed back to the train station in hopes of returning to Sfax before it was too late, only to find that the next train wouldn’t pass through until around 10pm. At the call to prayer my friend went inside a small mosque, and I waited outside.

We sipped mint tea in a dark garden and tried to stay warm until our train came to take us home.
